We had a beautiful day for the duck race and sold 145 ducks in the morning prior to the race.
As we had 750 ducks competing, we held five heats with the first 10 from each heat taking part in the final race.
The final race saw duck 481, coming in first, 526 coming in second with 940 coming third.
421 earned Heather first prize of £50.
526 earned Eileen second prize of £30.
940 earned Mike third prize of £20.
A well needed boost to our funds as this year has been, shall we say, a little difficult!

by the vision of our then President, Lion Alan Denham, in 2017.Lion President Sarah thanked many people for their work in getting this project to
fruition but especially Lion Margaret B for liaising with the Town Council and other

At long last planting for the sensory
garden is happening. We first proposed a sensory garden
for the town at the beginning of 2017
and we are very pleased to see this
now coming to fruition. We are looking forward to a formal
opening later this year, COVID
restrictions permitting.Meetings.
To put it mildly, this has been a strange year. Nevertheless, we have continued our Lions' meetings, albeit in remote form. those of us with computers have become adept at new (for us) technologies and are now ZOOMING all over the place!
We have continued our welfare activities helping various local causes.July Meeting 2020.
This meeting was the first in the new Lions year, which runs from 1st July to 30th June.
We would normally have a social gathering when the outgoing president Sarah, would have presented the chain of office to our new President, Colin.
Due to the present COVID-19 restrictions, and the fact that some of our members are in the vulnerable category, we were unable to hold our normal social gathering to handover the chain of office to Colin, so prior to the actual meeting, Lion Sarah handed the virtual reigns over to Colin.
Colin thanked Sarah for guiding the club over the last year, and in particular the last few months, when she has been very active checking out volunteer organisations.
Colin outlined his vision for the club and said that we would have to adapt to the new normal, whatever that turns out to be!
At this meeting we made donations to the following:
Oasis £250, Vegan Food Bank £100, More Trees for Banes £200.
Lion Colin, President 2020 - 2021.April Meeting 2020.
Despite the problems caused by COVID 19, the club continues to operate using ZOOM to meet.
At our meeting, we were able to make donations to the Midsomer Norton Community Transport Trust and to the Dementia Action Alliance.Later in the month, we were able to make a donation to a local firm, making masks for Carewatch, a local care in the community organisation. We provided £1000 to purchase approved material for the masks, this donations was supported by a grant of £750 from our national Lions organisation.
